2010 Challenges

>> December 21, 2009

Do you know what a book challenge is? Don’t worry… I didn’t know what this was until about a month ago. All I can say is, when someone extends a challenge my way I usually have to play along (remember I am a list maker... I might be the only person you know who sets annual goals for herself, and yes I do check some off each year).

Challenges are open to anyone interested in participating and they sound like a fun way to discuss books with fellow book lovers. Most run for an entire year and have a theme, such as the ‘You’ve got Mail’ challenge where you read books mentioned in the movie and talk/blog about them. I do not read enough to be able to plan what I’m reading for 12 months so I will be a cheerleader to those of you participating in these challenges.

I do however have a few books waiting to be read on my bookshelves that fit into a few challenges, so I have decided to sign up for the following:

The Debutante’s Challenge

The Debutante Ball is a group blog for debut authors, all women. The blog is currently in its fourth year and has a track record of debuting some really great authors.

The MMBC read Driving Sideways earlier this year (one of the books highlighted for 2008) so I thought I should support these women. Having to commit to only one book for the entire year makes this a good fit for me. Who doesn’t want to read a novel by a great new author? I think I’m going to read The Opposite of Me by Sarah Pekkanen

How can I go wrong? Enough said.

Reader’s Challenge

...and after I read my own books for the challenge above I can write about what I have read for this one!  Brilliant, just brilliant!

Are you playing along for 2010? How many challenges have you signed up for? I’m wondering if three is too many but they seem manageable for my busy schedule.

I love challenges! You can see all the ones I'm signed up for here.

This year (my first year blogging!) I stressed about completing challenges. 2010 will hold no stress (yeah right!). But seriously, after Eva wrote her post about why she liked challenges (they introduce her to new books), I had to agree. Enjoy the challenges you have signed up for!

How did I miss Miz B's challenge? I already review every book I read so that's a no brainer!
