Preparing... So much to do, so little time!
>> February 03, 2010
This weekend I am traveling with my son for a quick trip to Boston and NYC. We have a few must see places to visit while in Boston followed by a day with friends in NYC before heading back home on Tuesday evening. I can’t wait to report back on all that I accomplished on this trip – it's not a vacation…. So I will be ready to relax next week.
Books I’m bringing with me (who knows how much I will read): The Summer We Fell Apart, Dream House and Tainted.
Omaha Bookworm’s: I have mentioned that the Omaha Bookworm’s are meeting with Cathy Buchanan to discuss The Day the Falls Stood Still later this month – she and I exchanged emails this weekend and since we both use video Skype we will take advantage of technology and be able to see her on our home TV. I’m very excited to try this out!!!
Manic Mommies Book Club:
- Did you read A Reliable Wife with us last year (a MMBC selection)? Last week it was number 1 on the NY Times best seller list! I saw this book at Target today, I’m interested to hear some opinions (it’s a dark story, but it kept my interest).
- The book drawing is going on for our March selection (ends Friday). Click here for details
The Chaos Chronicles: It’s no secret that I love the Satellite Sisters, they kept me sane when I moved to Omaha and were the one piece of my previous life that stayed consistent. I streamed their show from a Minneapolis radio station just to listen to them! They are no longer on the air but don’t worry…. Lian (the youngest sister) has been giving us a weekly podcast for over a year - focused on mothering, womanhood, current events that peak her interest, she doles out advise from time to time... all while writing her first novel! Last week she revealed a fresh new look for her website, The Chaos Chronicles – you must stop by, comment and read/listen along. She is also a featured columnist on Oprah.com.
Book Giveaway: Everyone’s talking about The Summer We Fell Apart – and you can win a copy!

- Interesting… The Top 100 books of All Time was one of the post popular articles viewed on the Guardian’s site last week. The article was posted in 2002! What makes this special this week?

Have fun in Boston and NYC -- (2) great places to visit!
So I posted my review of The Day The Falls Stood Sill and got a comment from Cathy Buchanan including an invitation to have her talk to my book club via Skype. I had to laugh! I wrote back and told her thanks, that I'm already looking forward to talking to her.
Lisa, Did you tell Cathy that this is your book seleciton? :) HA - of course she wouldn't know this, in less we told her.
Can't wait to see you!
Have a great time!
I have an award for you!
